  • Love my Miata - 1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Have driven this car daily for almost 7 years. Only repairs ever needed were the tires and the battery, until just 6 months ago, when the brake pads were replaced. The car still drives like it did when it was new. This is the best engineered, and most reliable car I have ever owned. I just had it repainted, because I plan to keep it for many more years.

Last year I bought the 1999 mx5 10th ann. The car had 68k and was in excellent cond. I drive the car quite hard and find the power band somewhat disappointing, however I do admit red-line shifts are very satisfying, at around 7k rpms,(typical for many import sports cars). Little acceleration in 6th, toping out somewhere around 125mph. Shifting quickly into 6th can be sketchy, since reverse is just a click away. Car has an awesome feel and ride... very stiff and sporty. Sound from stock exhaust is respectable. Seats are leather with blue suede inserts that are difficult to maintain, but look very cool. Winter driving is a death wish, however the hard top keeps you warm and looks amazing.

Amazing fun and performance for a stock vehicle with a low price. It offers more than I expected.

Purchased this car with 58K in March as a daily driver. Already put 10K add is drives great. Gas mileage is awesome. Had to replace the master & slave on the clutch -- plastic cracks after 10 years. Also, just put in new plugs, wires and timing belt. Runs like new! I drive 40 miles each way to work and love to drop the top on nice days. It makes the commute in ATL way more tolerable. Drove from Atlanta to Jacksonville, FL - 6 hours one way. The car was more comfortable than you would expect on a long drive. Dont get me wrong. This is not the optimal distance car but you wont be miserable on long drives.

  • I love this little car! - 1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata

My next car will have to be a 4-seater, so I dont want my Miata to ever wear out! Im tall at 6-1", but I like this car and dont feel cramped inside. I dont drive long distances, though. The gearing tends to make for high engine revs when youre on the interstate - by my experience, in excess of 3700 rpms at 65. Fit and finish is as good as you have come to expect in a Japanese car. Engine compartment is well laid out, making routine service easy. It wont win many stop light drag races, but over all a very high-quality product and a pleasure to drive.

Just purchased and love the handling. Only had 50K miles. I bought this over the Z3 for the following reasons: -Reliability, Glass Back Window, Manual Top

Never before had I had an emotional attachment to a vehicle. The Miata is not particularly fast, but fast enough with power to spare in 6th gear at 80mph, tops out (rev limited) somewhere beyond that. Power curve on the engine starts pulling at about 3000 rpm and doesnt stop til well over 6000 - engineers call it "jerk" (dA/dT for the nerds), such that you feel it pushing you into the seat in every gear. Mazda put VVT for wider torque the 2000+ cars, and IMHO, messed up the jerk curve. In 5 years of pushing the traction limits, I had only one mechanical problem; an electronic switch in the transmission was fixed under warranty. Traded the car in for a 4WD, I miss driving the Miata.

I honestly look forward to the most routine errands or just any excuse to drive my Miata. The style and look of this gem turns heads everywhere I go. I love my Miata.

Bought a 1999 miata with 64k mileage on it around 8-9 months ago. Bought it from the original adult owner. About the car: Manula transmission -Low mileage when I bought it -havent done anything aside from 3k oil change -Current mileage on the car for the past 8-9 months is 73k I enjoy driving this little beauty. My gf doesnt like it because its manual and she thinks the car is too small(your opinion matters little..). So far, upgraded air filter to K&N oem filter(1mil mileage warranty), momo shift knob, and just recently added a High Quality trunk lip spoiler, Original did major service @50k, so I guess I will do one at 90k or so. So far, the car drives flawlessly.
